3D displays hit supermarkets

3D displays hit supermarkets

Supermarkets throughout the Netherlands are set to roll out xyZ 3D displays showing a new Pepsi advertisement.

The 'Pepsi Foot Volley' campaign was converted into 3D by Zero Creative, 3D marketing and communications specialist.

This 3D commercial is hoped to grab attention the attention of shoppers and promote the cola brand. Various objects jump out of the screen, towards the audience. The 3D image is perfectly visible without the need for 3D-glasses.

The digital signage market is expected to embrace autostereoscopic xyZ 3D Displays more and more.

"3D is a very hot subject in the world of new media and everyone wants to do 'something' with it. This project confirms that our client, Vrumona [Dutch producer of Pepsi], is a leader in marketing innovation that already deploys new marketing tools that other companies haven't even discovered.", said Jean-Pierre van Maasakker, CEO of Zero Creative.

Vrumona is a full subsidiary of Heineken and one of the biggest producers of sodas, juices and waters in the Netherlands.

Zero Creative specialises in 3D experiences and creates interactive real-time 3D presentations. The media company also offers autostereoscopic xyZ 3D Displays, based on lenticular technology and says the LCD displays deliver a very bright and clear 3D effect, without the need of special 3D glasses.

The company has some video footage of the displays in action, which sadly doesn't show the 3D effect, but what it does show is reaction of passers-by to the technology.
